Something we have been considering on a small scale with Gemini for a while, but after a bit of thought and seen that we have so many "good eggs" on PH, I was wondering.............

Has there ever been a charity or Charitable trust set up by PH members? I know about the just giving appeals and sporting Bears, but what about a charity / events run and supported by PH members giving to a host of worthwhile causes.

Is this an idea worth considering? or does the world have to many charities, taking into account the National Lottery etc.

Sounds like a good idea. Would there be much work involved, though? What about legals?

I assume a board of trustees who are willing to run the show, and everybody that wants to be involved maybe pitching in with their own skills, ie Legal, marketing, accountancy, IT, advertising etc.

i persnoly think its a great idea especialy as its for charity , and would be willing to help in anyway that i could , aslong as it dont involve any spelling lol .

i have run a few track days before for charity providing you can get the track , the cars shouldnt be a problem , maneley made the money from passanger rides to be honest .

wasnt a great deal well 4figures but everyone had a great weekend doing what they injoy at a good price and also raised some money for charity , with the knolege of pepole on this site though am sure much more profitable things could work.

Sounds like a worthwhile idea to me - so you have some interest from at least one lawyer

I am considering setting up a charitable trust in my name at a some point. I don't know any legal/tax complications but I am willing to put about £2m into the trust.

The trust will be designed for deaf organisations/old people needs/Jockey Club etc in Suffolk.

Any useful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well maybe "the credit crunch" has well and truley bitten and interest in this kind of thing has diminished, shame.
