Hi - I've just been to the TVRCC website and there's a discussion about what fuel is best to use in various TVR's. The general consensus seems to be that Optimax is probably best and most people agree that it is approx 98 RON, but no-one seems to know for sure.

I will hopefully soon be getting a Tuscan and had never really thought about what fuel to use - Optimax / Super-unleaded / or plain old unleaded - what does everyone else use? I'm aware there have been a few problems with speed 6 engines, so I want to try and avoid upsetting mine as much as possible! I'd appreciate any advice.

Absolutly no question about it - use Optimax. A buddy of mine is a development petrochemist at Shell who tells me that the absolute minimum guaranteed specification for Optimax is 98.6 octane and in reality it reaches the pump at typically 98.9 to 99.2 octane. Makes octane booster a bit bloody pointless.
I have been using it now for 3,000 miles in my 4.5 Cerbera and it has made a very significant difference. After a tankful the adaptive engine ECU gets its act together and remaps itself to take advantage. (Presumably the timing gets advanced until the knock sensor says enough!)Above 6000 rpm is where it really shows. Before there was a noticable tailing off of the power delivery and rate of acceleration. Now I actually have to glance at the rev counter at peak revs in 1st 2nd and 3rd otherwise I'm always bashing against the limiter (cant hear the beeper because of the sports exhaust.)
Interesting by-product was that now on my regular run between Oxford and Cornwall consisting of steady state 85mph crusing I get 27.5 mpg!!!!! Of course, the minute you stand on the throttle...........

That's two of us doing a regular run between Oxford(shire) and Cornwall then John (live near Henley with girlfriend in Plymouth). I'll keep an eye out for you on the M4/M5

You didn't ever work as a manager in B&Q in Exeter did you John? I worked there about 10 years ago and there was a manager their who had your name!

Not guilty. If I worked as a manager at B&Q, I don't think I'd be able to afford a Cerbera. I've been based in Oxfordshire for the past 15 years but I've got a house in Cornwall hence the regular runs down there

If you see a yellow pearlescent 4.5 Cerbera, R8TVR, thats me.
