I have good reason to believe the engine advertised on Ebay, a Chimera 500 is a scam. Item no 220270925374.
I have already been caught out myself, and don't want anyone here having the same thing happen to them.

There are 5 bids on it at the moment, my advice is DONT.

I have emailled this chap with a view of trying to find his location, and hopefully get my money back.

Is it not possible to report a dodgy advert to ebay to investigate?

The picture of the engine appears to be from this Classic Car Magazine article...

http://www.classiccarsmagazine.co.uk/post.php?sid=...

So I'm guessing it is probably a fraud... unless it's from the same car in the article ?!?

I will have my 5lt engine coming out of my griff this winter if anyones interested, being replaced with an AJP, so if this weekends deal doesn`t happen it will be up for grabs.

You are right, it is the same picture. A man has bid £2950 for it, I hope he doesn't part with any money.

You mean you've already paid for this engine, it didn't arrive and is now being re-sold?

FB of 1 does not alway smean 'dodgy' - we were all on '1' once upon a time!

That is true feedback of 1 does not mean that you are dishonest. However, I in good faith paid for and engine on ebay as advertised by this chap I think, and no engine turned up and all communication ceased. So at present I am out of pocket (at the moment). The engine hasn't been re-listed, as I don't believe there was one in the first place. You live and learn. The man that won the bid hasn't paid for it, as I have had an email from the seller confirming this, along with his name and bank account details. I'm sure the police will be only to pleased to have this info. I also have an address, so I am narrowing it down along with an email address.

Hopefully, I will be reimbursed, after all it's common theft, I am ashamed to admit I have been had for being trustworthy and too honest. in 14 years, I have never come across any TVR person who has been anything other than genuine.

May it continue to be so.

I am truly sorry to hear about your loss, and I do hope you recover your money.

I must say though, that as a Yorkshireman I would not dream of parting with a large amount of cash without first having personally checked over the goods, TVR soulmate or not. frown
