Back into happy shopper mode, more bone questions that I hope you chaps don't mind answering.

Decision made, was between wedge, xjs, 944 again or S series.
S series won, however, are the door openings that bad on an S2 compared with the S3. I know I have to physically try them and I sat in Beeka's S3 which fitted nicely. I am not that big, about 6'1 and 17 stone, so not really of bigfoot variety, but needless to say, if I can't get in or out without looking like a buffoon it isnt much good.

Also, is there any great gain in having a few more stickys going into an S3.

I'm not trolling, and appreciate not the brightest question in the world!!
At least a decision has been made, just in time for winter

Mike.

Well i reackon if you can get in and out of the S3 ok I dont think you'll have too much of a problem getting in and out of an S2,but your just have to try.

The rest IMHO is just cosmetics, and obviously the S3 being a bit newer will usually cost more beer tokens

Right who's got an S2 mike can try

P.S this question is nowhere near trolling - i've seen far better examples in SP&L

Thanks Pies
Beer tokens = beer.
S2 will be the way ahead dependent on having a go.
I do like the S3 Dash though.
Mike.

Don't know if you've looked recently but there are some stonkingly good priced V8S's out there at the moment. Personally I don't think they will be as low again, worth a look.
All S's are classic's but the V8S is more of a classic IMHO

I do agree Harry.
However, they are a bit over budget. Unfortunately I can't really stretch, but I do agree, they are very nice.

I've got a few problems with my knees, which restrict the amount of movement I have, so the extra length (and wider opening) of the S3 doors was a bonus for me...

Funny you should say that Podie, but I have injured knees, the left one worse than the right.
Guess it is a case of having a decent try of both.
Trouble is, you never see any for sale in local garages. Well, not in Bristol anyway.

Not that I'd ever expect to pay that money for an S3 (V8S available for that money ) but penisula have an S3 in at the moment http://peninsulaautomotive.co.uk/sales.asp#Current Sales List if you wanted to try it out for size down brizzzzzzzzzle way.

Same here... even modified the clutch to make it lighter on the action.

Problem with longer doors is that they require a larger space in which to open...

I'm 6'6" and have perfected a fairly graceful exit strategy (entry is easier) for my S3, even with the roof on.

I had the chance to try an S1 (same doors as the S2) for size at the last Berks meet and thought I was going to have to call the fire brigade to come and get me out! Most of my height is in my legs which probably didn't help, but I had to get my knees up round my ears in order to get my feet out!

The only sure way is to try one - your local TVRCC meeting would probably be a good bet if you're not able to take Christian up on his offer.

Good luck!

Thanks chaps.
Christian, I appreciate your offer to have a try for size. I am in Bradley stoke, so if you are near we will have to meet.

Also, I will take a hike to peninsula to try the S3 as well.

Thank you folks

There's a BRG S2 at Cleeve Wood Garage in Downend. The car looks in reasonable nick though in need of some TLC and is about £6500, you could practically walk from your house! Personally I didn't go for the colour but I'm fussy ar2e me which is why I've been looking for an eternity now - has to be Mica Blue/magnolia...

Hi Mike,
Mica Blue/Magnolia definatly the colour choice !!
(mind you I'm not biased)
Took a run up to Penninsular yesterday and saw their S3 - if you intend going to see it drop me an e mail.
Cheers
John

Went down to see the S2 at Cleevewood last night, sold yesterday morning!

Guy there wanted to buy mine for good money, mainly because of the colour (Mica blue). I was quite tempted, but could not part with it. What could replace the noise and general pleasure for the money!
