Hi guys loads are mailing me how i dyed my carpets heres some pics im sorry i didnt take any beforehand but you can see the rear shelf pic how yellow the carpet was and the results are good

I bought NAVY BLUE DYLON 2 packs £4.99 each) from woolworths a pump spray gun(£1) duck tape mix 1 box to 2 litres of water with a pinch of salt mixed in
took the seats out masked everywhere could vacuumed carpets clean then sprayed away let it dry then brushed vacuumed and glued edges where applicable

Only needs a light spray so not too heavy but consistent

The DYLON dye does come in other colours

Any questions mail me ive saved loads ££££ my carpets were in good condition but sun faded no look brill any dark patches in pics will dry out as i did those rear panels last

WOW! eek

Now this has got me thinking, is Woolworths open on sundays?

Just a though as well, what happens if it gets wet now, will it run?

Well, I had a go with mine today, unfortunately because the interior of mine is a light shade of green, it didn't work, looks somewhat st to be honest. Ah well, works for some, but not others, probably better on a dark interior?

See here for results: http://www.tvr-nomads.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?...

Hi there MadMax, I have to back track somewhat now as it is looking much better now it is drying. The real problem is that the rear carpet is such a large exposed area it looks worse than what it is.

The front carpet now looks great!

If required you could always go for a darker shade of green with that interior.
Great thread - must be because I'm a tight sod.

In essence, it DOES work, but to fully appreciate the effect, one has to spray the complete interior of the car and not just a small area. Now I can't see the old colour, it looks great.

A darker green may be worth a go, but I shall give it a week to settle properly first.

has anybody any experience what willhappen if the carpet gets wet in the rain? I really want to do the same, but I am afraid the colour could come off in the rain and ruin my clothes?

Interesting.

I thought these Dylon packs were designed for use in a washing machine on a hot wash along with loads of salt to help set the colour?

Had a look at mine today and it is looking so much better. Still a little damp, but the colour is even, looks like a brand new carpet!

I rubbed a wet sponge on a little area and the dye didn't come off, so it is perfectly waterproof.

I may add a little blue colour to it over the next few days just to get it to blend in with the bodywork colour.

I am thinking of doing the same this weekend, can either of you let me know the exact type of Dylon. Is it the multi purpose stuff in the small metal package?

Going to go for Bordeaux as my external paint is Crimson Starmist, Navy Leather and at the moment pink carpets......very Austin Powers, YEAH BABY!

Hi there, this is one packet I used (used three in total):

Bear in mind that at first you may well think you have ruined your carpets, but give it a few days to settle in and you will be amazed!
