Hi eveybody, finally able to buy my first TVR, I'm facing the following problem; as I live in Belgium, chims or griffs are about 30 to 40% more expensive here than in the U.K....not even mentionned the condition! A '94 griff with 60k miles will cost me about 23.000...
One solution I had in mind is to buy one in the U.K. and then to converse it to a LHD, but I've been told that would totally mess up the cars stability, electrics, etc, etc.....any suggestions? Thanks!

Chims are harder to convert than Griffs, but we would do it for circa £4k for a Griff and £5k for a Chim.

However, I suggest you buy a RHD car and try it for a few months. You don't need LHD and you will meet a number of people in the Dutch TVR Car Club with RHD cars. We have sold about a 100 new cars to Brits living on mainland Europe and the majority bought RHD.

If you want a car, we'd supply you with all the paperwork you would need to import it into another EEC country with no tax to pay.

I remember when I was looking for my standard RHD car a dealer (Non TVR) had a LHD Chimarea in stock and because it was LHD over here (UK) it was cheaper than a RHD car so UK Top Marques/Auto Trader website is always worth a try you never know whats out there until you start looking

There is a LHD Chimaera for sale in the UK Autotrader.

Forgot to say, that I bought a RHD Chimaera this year in the UK because there is more choice and because of the lower price. I live in The Netherlands and could not find a Dutch registered car for less than €32k (approx £21k). I never really have a problem driving a RHD car. I suggest you try a RHD car and then decide if you really need LHD.

getting the slightly impression that somebody has had some bad experience with a certain conversion...done by a certain "specialist"...Am I wrong?

If you are not in a hurry then why not come and talk to me about my red LHD 500 Chim, full leather, aircon and sports exhaust.

Best regards

okay Marc, why not? Where do you live? And maybe you can give me some more details about the car as well. is it an original LHD or a conversion?
