Having thought better of it and cancelled my order for a 60th SoftTop now looking for a 50th Anniv.V8. Thing is, it's to replace our seven year old Def.90 which has been a good solid, ultra reliable workhorse for the six years we've owned it during which time we've averaged about 6,000 miles a year. Can we expect a 50th to be as faithful and any thought/advice on buying? Won't go off road - other than very occasional very gentle green lane (it's the short cut to our local pub!) and petrol consumption is NOT an issue so lets not bother with that! smile

Cheers guys (and girls).

Bugger, topic should read 'Advice' (obviously) but don't know how to correct.

Well,i have had this a year now.And not had any problems with it what so ever......

I bought mine from Nene Overland. Some people i have spoken to have had mixed feelings about them, but i must say, they were helpful to me,and they had the cleanest original examples on sale, unlike many others i went to view.running wise. Its a hell of a lot cheaper to run than previous P38,which was mint and wanted for nothing. My 50th is used everyday seven days a week.I paid £12995 for my one.

BlueT - very nice! Seems a very good price? How many miles had she done when you got her. it looks as if I'll have to pay a bit more than that now for a good one. Which ultimately is a good sign I guess!

It was on 63,000.Mine was the higher end of the mileage scale of the vehicles on offer, and was the cheapest they had at the time. They did have a mint J.E. spec one 5.0ltr with only 10,000mls on the clock for £22,000!!!.To be honest although you pay a premuim for Nenes vehicle, they were by far the best out of every thing i looked at.And i did look at quite a few.I was looking for a good original unmolested vehicle, and thats exactly what i got.The 50th is very civilised when compared to the 300tdi and TD5 models, and has a very smooth autobox.I dont think i could ever part with this. And i could have sold it over and over again since i bought it,with people wanting to take it off me.

Cheers guys. Site very useful. Nenes were certainly already pretty much top of my list and I agree that, whilst not being the cheapest, they do consistantly seem to have good cars and as this will be a 'keeper' the car is more important than 'saving' a few £ks. I'll keep you posted on how my search goes!
