I've just seen this article, following a posting on Slashdot;

www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=coverstory&loc_code=index&content_code=09282484

It appears, and IANAL, that the "supercar" law described there could be used to import TVRs, at least those no longer manufactured ....

Hey, it only costs $85,000 to make the 959 compliant.

I desperately want a TVR. But TVR better want to sell it to me and support it with a strong 3 year bumper to bumper service agreement (build it into the price!) that covers everything but tires and gives me a loaner when the car is being serviced.

It all comes down to servicing/reliability. Once the cars are sufficiently debugged, TVR will come to the USA. The Speed 6 engine needs to be able to do 100,000 miles without needing major work. I don't think the reliability is there.

Howly cr@p! I'd bought the McLaren instead of the 959, thank you for the trouble though!

Peter Wheeler must be over-enthousiastic to bring TVR's to the USA once he reads this! :-d
