I am interested in getting a insulation blanket for my turbo as I would like to reduce my engine bay temps. I have heard that they can help a turbo spool up quicker but I have also just read they they can over heat bearings in the turbo and should only be used on journal bearing turbos or WRC spec.

I don't think you would have a problem, insulating the turbine and turbo manifold with insulating material will reduce the heat energy lost through radiation and force more to pass through the turbo. This will obviously cause the blades to spin faster, more spool and power production. It could be a problem if you stayed at full whack for a long period as you could be close to the turbine limits, but in reality it's not going to be an issue.

It will increase power and should have a great affect on the bay temp, could drop 25-30degsC.
