does anyone know how to rectify the following problem? i have heard its quite common with 1998 models which i have.

when cruising on motorway etc the engine randomly stalls at around 65-70 mph. if i rev the engine hard, within 1 mile the engine stalls again.

any help most welcome.

There's a service bullettin S514, which deals with this problem. Check with your local dealer, mine was done for free. A good cleaning with some carb cleaner should also help, especially around the butterfly and the air bypass hole.

I'd check with a Jaguar main dealer as soon as you can to see if the recall on the throttle body has been carried out. As far as I know this is still live and if the throttle body is the problem - sounds like it is - then you should be able to get the replacement done free.

Not often that will happen so make the most of it biggrin

thanks for the advice, been to jag, recall already been done, looks like a hefty bill for a new throttle body.
