Hello,
I want to by a trailer for a future Ultima but it seems that the total length given by Ultima (4000mm) doesn’t seem right when I compare it to the wheelbase length (2560mm) ratio on pictures.

Can someone please give me the REAL bumper to bumper dimensions or some explanations? Thanks in advance

Don't forget that an Ultima's length changes when driven hard at the SofS, ala Concorde.
I reckon you should add 6inch to the static length !!

You can take 4000 as correct, certainly true for the Canam. Can't see the GTR being different.

The width will be the biggest problem when looking for a trailer.
Light weight trailers tend to be too narrow so when you find one wide enough it will be a brute with double axles intended to take big 4X4s.
I think when I looked at sizes the GTR was 9" wider than my Range Rover.

My canam was exctaly 6'1" wide and on a 6'1" trailer the tyres cleared both sides by less than 1mm... had to be careful putting it on but it wasn't hard by any means.

I too think the 4000mm is correct (or close) but I will check tonight if I get a chance. Also I 99% certain the GTR and Canam are the same dimensions.

Obviously the splitter adds 70mm to this dimension!

My Mk4 is also 6'1" wide, which is the standard width for most trailers. I used to have a regular trailer, and there was literally the thickness of a coat of paint on either side.

I bought a Brian James TT20 to replace it. It has a flat wide bed, so the cars width isn't a problem. It's also very well built.

Thank you all so much for your response. The width seems to be the big issue then. But I am still mystified!

How interesting!. I will go home and measure wheelbase of Canam tonight. The overall length of 4m definitely correct.
Its very difficult to find any standard car covers that fit especially with the rear wing.

Photogrammetry - the science of taking measurements from photographs - does not assume linear accuracy as you have applied in your example. Look at the bricks left, right ad centre. The size varies considerably. Look at the front and rear rim diameter, they are different too. All this can be corrected for, but not just applying linear techniques.

I have software that corrects for this, but in this case, just take the explaination as distortion and believe the tape measure!!
