car went in to vauxhall last week for a service wasnt due for awhile but was getting high oil pressure at high revs up to 5 bar when cold and 4 bar when warm.

Got in it yesterday and it said "service due soon" and then "check engine" "safe mode activated reduced power". i turned it off again and then on and it went away and has not returned? is it out of safe mode again?

any ideas on what it could be? apart from taking it back to vauxhall. They are waiting for a new belt and tensioner and a new drivers seat due to stiching coming out already

Depending on whats wrong if the DTC is current (and deemed serious enough) it will go back into safe mode. A reset will force it to forget whats bust and wait for a fail condition again. It does however save DTC codes for your entertainment and enjoyment should you wish to review them at a later date.

Like Magic said, you really need to see the codes to figure out whether its anything to worry about or not.

You can do it with software and a lead, but you probably don't have those.

Could try sticking the dash in diagnostics mode and see if there are any trouble codes.

Here's my post concerning it -

The dash on my VZ model Monaro (6.0 VXR) has some hidden functionality.

To access:

1. Do not switch on the ignition.

2. Hold down the Mode and Set buttons to the left of the steering wheel.

3. Turn ignition key to the On position.

4. Release buttons and start engine.

You can scroll through the functions using the Mode button. Arrow buttons seem to have no function here. Set button will drop it into standard mode.

Functions are (my figs in brackets).

Version and Serial #.
Part #
Switch Voltage (5V)
Battery Voltage (14.3v)
Brake Voltage (2.06) This is with handbrake OFF, it is zero when on. [no idea what it means]
Fuel Cal Part #
Petrol Sender Value (150/255)
Remaining Fuel (8 Gal)
Instantaneous Fuel (0.64 Gal/Hour)
Coolant Temp (150F)
Speed (0 mph)
Tacho (801rpm)
Park Lamps (Off) [Unless you switch them on...]
Trouble Codes (Lots of zeroes)
Scary Mode (This beeps and tests the whole display) [See below]

Then hit Set to drop out, or go round again.
