Hi All,

My wife is looking at moving there with her job but we don't know too much about what its like there? Do you (as above), either live there or know someone who does that I can contact for a realistic view of the place?

Thanks

Ross

Lack of replies it seems.
Well I've been to Dallas smile and have spent some time in Huston.

As with a lot of places, if you are a "have" and not a "have not" it's a great place to live. Got use to the valet parking at restaurantsbiggrin, local food at lesser places very good too(unlike NJ where I live)

Swimming, tennis, golf. Accomodation is not a problem, plenty of upmarket condos if you want to rent.

If your wife's salary offer is good I'd give it some serious thought.

One point though, what visa would you be given ? right to work etc, (assuming you want/need too biggrin)

PS Grady from the Wedge forum lives in Huston.

First post!!!
I live in Prosper. It's about 30 miles or so north of Dallas. It's hot. It's 85F as I type this. Aside from the heat, the weather is rather nice. My Esprit has been caught in the rain twice and I've had it since December.
Most suburbs of Dallas have enough to do without fighting Dallas traffic. Watch out for the cookie cutter tract homes. They lure you in with "free" upgrades in your poorly built (more often than not by illegal Mexicans) brand new home that loses value like a car instead of going up in value.

I can answer most questions you have about the area. Send me a list!.

Fuel prices are up. It's costing more to transport and deliver products, so all prices are up...especially food. It's taking a toll on the middle class, but it's because most people are living at the edge of their means. Almost everyone has the most expensive house and car they can possibly afford. I'm one of the outcasts for not doing this.
I rather like the fuel prices, as traffic isn't as congested anymore.
The area I live in hasn't seen a housing slump. They're building more and more houses, some of them well built, some not.

Only just seen this thread, I spent a year living in Plano (on the north side of Dallas) returning back to May, earlier this year.

I really enjoyed my time in Dallas. After a few years of working for oil service companies, I'm no stranger to Houston either, and I have to say Dallas is a better place to live.

Whereabouts will your wife be working? Traffic in terms of getting from one side of Dallas to the other isn't great.
