I've been thinking of getting a Caterham for a long time now. Trouble is, I want new one and the car I want, with the spec I want, costs just a bit too much to justify to myself at the moment. When I was last in the Caterham (a while ago), the salesman said that they don't do deals and I think that meant on new and used cars. However, I noticed on their website that they had a sale on and were doing deals on their used cars last month. They said on the Website that it's because August is always quiet with holidays and it being the month before new registrations. No mention of credit crunch and no one buying cars. What I'd like to know is what are the chances of them doing deals on new ones soon or am I going to have to carry on saving and dreaming?

They can reconise the revenue on the sale of a used car on invoice. A new car has to be built, even if you pay 100% up front, so tactically you are on to a loser.

That said I got about 6% off my HPC against list when I bought it.

I think you'll find they will do deals. Ask them about their new CDX (I think that's what it was called) - K series "run-out" model...not sure how many they are flogging - perhaps a dozen or more...depends on how many K engines they have.

I know someone who is getting a very good deal on one if the figures he gave me are to be believed.

Thanks for the replies.I did see those CDX's and they would have been perfect but i think I need the SV chassis. I'll have to go back down there and see if i can squeeze in one......

More chance of getting an improved spec rather than £s' off for a desired spec IFYSWIM. I know of someone who got a free upgrade from a 1.4 to a 1.6 when ordering their classic.
