Spider Help Please
Discussion
Hi everyone. I need some advice as to what to do. I have an 01 Alfa Spider 3.0 V6, it is driving wonderfully and I really enjoy it. I've had no problems with it apart from the central locking being a bit fussy. About a month ago the engine warning light came on, I took it to the local Alfa dealership to have it looked at, they ran a diagnostic and said it was likely to be the lambda sensor which would need replacing. This was done, luckily covered by my warranty. 3 days later, I drove her to Cardiff, and I noticed the light had come on again before I set off. I drove her there and back with no problems and took it into the garage 2 days ago. They kept the car overnight to look at it. They have said they don't know whats wrong with it, it could be the actual warning light connection, but they also said it could be the spark plugs or the exhaust and it was down to me how far I went with this as I could be looking at approx £700 labour costs just for them to find out whats going on. They have recommended I bring it back if I have any problems with it. The engine warning light is off and has not come on as yet but I am worried it will do again. I have the car back, driven it to work and back and its driving fine. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do? Should I consult an Alfa specialist place (don't know any in the Norwich area)? Thanks for any advice.
1) I suggest you also ask the question here http://www.sportsalfa.com/phpBB2/index.php
2) I had something similar on my V6 and the dealer went down the route of trial and error, I argued that with the diagnostic kit they've got they should be able to identify the faulty part and replace it. They replaced the Lambda sensor and then replaced the Air Flow Meter, after a short debate we agreed I would pay for the parts only...
