Again, Thanks in advance for any help.
i have a 2000 5.0ltr, and whilst sticking my head under the bonnett (opened, of course) the fans came on... well, the driver side one, the other doesn't seem to want to play. could it need a cleaning? replacing? all replies need to be in "mechanical-blonde" type, as i've never really been mechanically minded, but am wanting to try. managed to top up oil and coolant today (ok, ok, sad, i know... but really, it's the most i've had to do with cars, i'm used to getting new ones, driving them for 6 months, then getting a new one in return , ahh, company cars, you have to love 'em)

I'm expecting you don't have two stage cooling. Perhaps it's worth a quick check with the person or dealer you bought from.
What I suspect are connector blocks to the fans, there are spade connectors within these often corrode. What I'd do is take off the connector to the otter switch (the otter switch is in the side aluminium header tank) and short it with a paper clip or similar, then turn the ignition (no need to start the engine). This should switch both fans on. If it doesn't switch both in, turn the engine off, clean up the connections, reconnect the fans and try again.
An old favourite is to tuck these connectors in the area below the radiatior in an effort to keep things tidy. However this is where water tends to collect, hence causing the corrosion of the connections.
If this doesn't solve your problem, perhaps you have a relay that's gone and it's time to try and find a diagram in either Steve Heath's Griff and Chimaera book or your TVR handbook. In my case neither looked quite like was in front of me in the footwell when I last had a look. Good old TVR, bless 'em.
Last but not least, no shame in seeking expert help. This should be a simple problem to fix for someone who knows what they're about.
Steve.

Thanks for the help guys, i'll try running it a little warmer, my fan (drivers side) comes on at approx 92 C, i think this is a little high, maybe not? (or is it?), from what's been said i guess both should come on, or i have this leven upgrade... but if i do, shouldn't the 1st fan kick in earlier?
With all that, i think that the probable cause is a faulty passenger side fan... if that's the case, should it need a cleaning? wires checked? replacing, if replacing, which fan would i need? (i.e. which type) would it be worth getting this two-stage upgrade, if so how much? and would i have problems getting it into Germany? questions, questions, questions... sorry to pick your brains, the car hasn't overheated yet, but no point in tempting fate.
Again, thanks.

Assuming everything electrical on the fan side of things is as it was when it left the factory(?) it could be the relay powering the fan that is not working has packed up. The easiest cheapest way to find out is swop the two fan relays around and see if the problem moves to the other fan.
