Is there any way of imobilising this really annoying gizmo on my Monaro? Also, it keeps reminding me about my 10,000 mile service even though the car has only done just over 5000 miles.......normal?

Yes and yes
the over speed chime can be turned off or adjusted via the options/mode buttons

I have set mine to 120 (max it will go to) so I have never heard it since I changed it
How did you hear yours at 85MPH? surely you mean km's?????
