test drove a 400 SE with a view to buying noticed a couple of niggles can anyone help identify?

1. slight whell wobble from faily low speeds doesn't get out of hand but still a pain

2. engine dies when accelerator dipped slowly and when on tick over sometimes races also dies when steering turned to full lock.

as you may tell I'm no mechanic but would like to understand possible associated problems

Cheers

I agree - from bitter experience I would say definitley get it inspected by someone who knows wedges (not just your average AA bloke!)

I bought what looked like a cheap wedge and have had to spend over £1,200 getting it into a state where it would pass it's MOT. Having said that, the last 2 months driving have been great, so don't let potential niggles put you off wedges as a breed. Just get a properly sorted one, and you (and your bank manager) will be very happy!

Echo all the above , bought Mrs H's 400 with 12mths MOT , took it off the road 3months later due to things I had found wrong . My fault really , I just fell in love with it . Check out the " Spotted" thread and you can see what can happen . Cost a lot , but we now know we have a really well sorted car and years of fun ahead .

Thanks for the feed back - nice to know there is some help out there but it just reinforces my fears over devling into the unknown

Got the money to buy one but I don't know if I could take the ear bashing from the misses if I had to keep spending the housekeeping ( What the goes through their minds? - what the hell's washing powder!)

Any tips on finding the right one?

rev - How much to take care of the problems identified above?

How much..

1) Buckled wheel- wheels not available any more
- so not easy to say, second hand / have it straightened / change all

2) from 50p to £1000 - and anywhere in between.

There are so many good ones... I would not buy unless
I was really sure... winters coming and prices go down !
