Z4: questions about service (due very soon)

Hi guys

My Z4 has 500 miles to the next service which the OSD claims is an 'Oil Service'. The car is a 2004 3.0l roadster and has clocked just over 41,000 miles so far.

Can anyone tell me what this service will involve? Is it an Inspection 2 (or whatever it's called)? I've never had a car serviced before, let alone the Z4 - so am clueless. Any help will be appreciated

Also, I don't fancy emptying my bank account at a BMW dealer so can anyone recommend a good independant east of London, close to Redbridge (or Barking, Harold Wood, Romford, etc)?

The service sequence on my Beemer goes as follows...

Oil Service
Inspection I
Oil Service
Inspection II

So you'll just be having an oil service probably. Your next service will be an Inspection I or an Inspection II, depending on what the last inspection was that the car had. You'll need to refer to the service record book to find that out.

As the car says, you're just due an oil service, so they'll change the oil and give the car a cursory glance over to check the wheels aren't hanging off etc.

Should be no more than £200 at a stealer, or half that at an independant. Try BMSport in Bexleyheath (don't know any others nearer you, sorry).

Prices vary wildly for an oil service from a stealer. The most I had quoted for mine was 265 ('but that does include changing the microfilter on the a/c'). Shop around or take to a good indie (as I do, but a few miles from you so not much use...)
