They've been on the car for a few months, I don't know if they're of any use to anyone.
Spec:- 296mm grooved and vented dics, 4 pot billet alloy calipers, braded steel brake lines.

Very nice,

Do they perform as good as they look? been thinking about ditching the AP 4 pots for something a little better, I have the bells and rotor set up on my 400 so need to get replacements sorted.

I have high-spec 300 mm, 4pot calipers and EBC green pads.
One word: brilliant.
They never stop braking, even on track days.
Easy to fit, and nothing to worry about spacers, etc.
when you take the full kit.

Ror

I'm not selling them, just thought someone might be interested in seeing them.
Perfomance from them is excellent, if a little wooden. (using Mintex pads- no squeal). Absolutely no fade on the track, and outbraking Chimera's etc.
Recommended.

They look great - did hi-spec deliver on time? I order some a couple of years back on a 14 day turn round and 6 weeks and many calls later gave up and went the Tower view route - more expensive but at least they arrived.

I've got the hispec 4 pot calipers and 285mm discs. Took a week or so to arrive due to them waiting for some parts (I wanted black calipers, not gold which I could have got immediately).

They work very well. I'm travelling in the US on business right now, but have some pics on my home PC which I can send to people when I'm home on 26th Sept if you're interested drop me an email.

This is why I have stopped dealing with Hi-Spec (and won't deal with them ever again). In my case I gave them a little over eight months, called them every two weeks, never got called back, always told the parts were almost ready and would be with me 'next week'. My opinion of their customer service is unprintable!

I was considering this modification, but a bit worried by the comments. Any other known sources of calipers?

Yup, that all sounds familiar.
3 - 4 weeks turned to 18 weeks.
3 calipers, 2 sets of brackets, and 1 modification of the second set of brackets and they got it right.

They are superb in operation, but that's due to simple physics, not LoSpec, sorry, HiSpec being particularly great.
I suggest you look at something like Wilwood calipers from Rallydesign, they're slightly cheaper and I've had very few problems dealing with Rallydesign.

I spoke to Hi-spec at the autosport show in Jan. They were going to call me back with some options for the racing wedge.

Fitted these tonight.

note the lack of the words Hi-spec!!!! still waiting for the phone call!!!!

Hi-Spec brakes are a popular upgrade on M100 Lotus Elans, but alas people I know have encoutered similar difficulties in dealing with this company,

well i paid about 1300-1400 with the vat.....
but AP are about the best.

these are race calipers so dont have the extra dust seals for road use. so road calipers will probably be slightly less...

they are very very light....

the 304mm disks and bells weigh about the same as the standard brembo vented i was running, but both 4 pot calipers weigh less than 1 standard thingy....

I'll let you know how they work after anglesey testing this weekend. I hope it doesnt snow...

I made the mistake today of mentally adding up the cost per corner

AP Caliper
AP Disk and bell
Nitron Damper
cutom wishbones
Chassis mods
rose joints
brake hoses

F**K me..

Graham,
They look the dogs firkin's. Im like the fact that the brakets have put the calipers central to the centre line of the hub as the standard jobs are beloew centre.
Any chance you could give me the dimension from the bell to hub bolting face to the back/engine side of the disc. Are they 28mm wide? Why? I've got 22mm X 300mm on mine with Alcon race calipers (Latter fitted later) and the Alcons need a 22mm and I don't want to make new caliper mounting brackets.

I upgraded to 300mm during the rebuild. Best thing about the change is that braking is now very progressive and I never lock-up the wheels unexpectedly.
If anyone else is contemplating an upgrade; go ahead, it will make a huge difference!
