@70mph what revs are you pulling in 6th gear - know its an auto.
Also what is the instanious MPG at that readout?
Im aware that the 330d is 1750rpm @70mph and the MPG of the 231bhp version is well over 50mpg.
Thanks.
Will check on my way home tonight, providing people remember to stay out of the BMW lane on the motorway. Also what is the instanious MPG at that readout?

Very early 2004/5 cars are available for less than £15k - seems to be more SE`s at that money. M-Sports can still be had for sub £20k though.
Yup, though early 20's for an approved used car from a main dealer - thats how i bought mine. Worth a bit extra for the peace of mind.Welshbeef said:

Ditto...will set the cruise at 70 mph on way home tonight...perhaps not as i go up and over the Orwell Bridge though!
Im expecting some very good results here.Could you state if its an LCI car or not i.e. 272bhp or 286bhp or 286bhp with efficient dynamics.
Many thanks.

On average it was coming up at 42.8mpg. Now with a slight decline in the road i could see 50mpg no problem but where the road seemed to be flattest it was 42.8. Approx 1650 rpm
Thats for a 2005 535d Sport, 43K miles, 272BHP model
Very impressive indeed, not being rude but would I be ball park right that yours might be worth around the low £20k's?age/milageThats for a 2005 535d Sport, 43K miles, 272BHP model

If so given the OP managed 42.5mpg and could see a 50mpg on a slight downhill - how much more MPG would the ED obtain?

The LCI / ED version will probably pull another 4mpg. I had one last year and i averaged 36/37mpg overall per tank. My non LCI / ED model averages 32/33mpg.

Well....my 535d is a Sept 07 Lci 286bhp model and the rev counter was telling me approx 1650 rpm at 70mph.
With a good mix of driving speeds and roads, the onboard puter suggests that i normally acheive an average 36.5mpg
Cruising at 70mph, it would appear to hover around 45-50mpg
HTH!
Bang on my expectations then. I'd love another LCI model one. The gearbox is sooo much better, the rear suspension less crashy and the led taillights are class. With a good mix of driving speeds and roads, the onboard puter suggests that i normally acheive an average 36.5mpg

Going to wait this time until they're down to around £25K, which should be in another couple of years.
From what i can see 535d Sports with sensible mileage are avaialble from around 19K privately, with a haggle & luck maybe 18K - I still think you will lose another £4K over the following 12 months though.
535d SE are around £4 K cheaper & will still lose another £3-4K over the following year.
Although the Sport looks so much better than the SE, I can't see that the premium is really justified - maybe the public will agree & the 'sport' premium will diminish soon?
