I am thinking of trading in my series II disco for a secondhand series 3 (diesel). My budget is £20 -25k. Are there any models/years to avoid or definetly go for. Any advice would be welcome.

We had a TDV6 HSE 05 reg. Too many things went wrong with it - if I were to list them I'd be here all evening. To give you some idea, the suspension conked out while O/H was driving on motorway, alarm kept going off, car wouldn't lock, bulbs would go on a daily basis - I could go on and on and on.type
Needless to say, O/H managed to get back every penny from the Dealer.
A great pity as if it had worked it would have been ideal.
There are lots of good websites around that are full of info that could be of use to you. Try www.disco3.co.uk for starters.thumbup

Oh and make sure you get one with a Land Rover Warranty.

The only one to buy on the used market is the HSE model. Gets you all the goodies. Your choice is whether you want petrol (15-20MPG) or diesel (25-30+mpg). Make sure you get the auto gearbox it makes the car. Avoid the early cars '54/05/55's and you will avoid the issues above. For £25k you'll get a late 2006 '06/56 maybe even an '07.

Colours are important, avoid the reds and greens. Silver is v common but best colour for the car IMHO, black also looks the biz.

Come over and visit us at www.disco3.co.uk for more insight.

PS It is a fabulous car, you won't be disappointed one bit.

Ive got a TDV6 GS model, Dark Blue (Looks black) with HSE alloys, 7 seats, Reverse parking sensors, Mudflaps, full history and the balance of LR Warranty, 56 plate 28,000 miles 4 new tyres, towpack that im selling for 20k.
It has never been any bother from new as i bought this of a friend in the village and he had it from Brand New.

Reason for selling is Ive just taken a new job and i get a co car otherwise I would keep it.

Im in Northamptonshire if you are interested.

Hmm. Unsubtle advert. Shame it's not a V8 HSE else I'd take your hand off.... having said that if the logburners are £20k then the whilst the Greenies keep up their propaganda that'll mean the V8s are in the teens. cloud9

Oh, and I still hate you for the Rolex Tuscan.... gorgeous you lucky lucky man.
