I'm getting bored of the legacy and feel its time to get back into a rear wheel drive car, most likely a cerbera 4.2, but i'm a little concerned at the insurance. i'm only 24 and had a 14K claim earlier this year. i had the M3 when i was 22 so i'm used to paying big bucks for insurance but will a cerbera be mega expensive or do people find its quite reasoanble to insure?

TIA,

Charlie

I'm 24 also, with a prior write-off that couldn't be claimed against the person causing the accident (don't start me on that one!), and 1 years no-claims now.

My best quote in June was about £2,200 from Tesco (which I've gone with). Direct Line said that they could be competitive in a year's time (they're linked to Tesco, anyway, AFAIK). I think Elephant were the next best at about £2,600, with all the specialist insurers telling me to go with Tesco once they heard the quote I'd been given. There were numerous other amusing quotes around the £5k-£6k mark.

[Edit: Forgot to mention... that's for a '99 V plate 4.2, 10k miles per annum, including commuting]

Don't want to annoy, but I pay £473, 5000 miles a year, but then I'm an old git at 33!!!!

Done through A. Mannning in Henley, you need to be a member of the TVRCC though.

£473 for 7k per year through Mannings, also with trackday cover for club days. Even older git at 40.
Tried everybody in the sprint magazine and Tesco. Tesco were £445 but no trackday cover and only 5k per year. Nobody else was even close.

Count yourselves lucky.

I'm 29 with 6 points, no garage and a london postcode, trackdays included.

How much you reckon?? Put it this way, I could have nearly bought that plasma screen I wanted

27 with 3 years no claims. Parked on a London street, £1200 from admiral (having the missus on it reduced the price by £200?!?!?!?)

The other thread on here about Nitrons affecting premiums got me worried, as I'm considering having mine switched fairly soon... Just 'phoned Tesco up, and no change to premiums at all with them.
