Advice needed!! I am rebuilding a series 3 but making in a bit modden. I got a new chassis and brought new parbolic leaf springs. I fitted them to the front and there was no problem but when i can to fitting them to the rear i was lifted so much that the axels was moved forward and was not central to the wheel arch on the rear tub. I found this problem when i can to fit the rear propshaft on and it would not rotate all the way around. ive rung the people that make the chassis and they said that it cant be the chassis as they are made on a jig. Ive also gone to the people that i got the suspension from and they are saying that the only problem that they have had has bean when they have bean fitted on new chassis. Has any one come across this problem if so how can it be sorted out??

The wheel does not sit in the centre of the rear tub. The wheel should sit forward of the centre of the rear wheel arch. This is due to the wheel moving rearward as the spring compresses and hence the shackle on the rear of the spring.

Not sure what you are saying about the propshaft, is it binding? There have been problems noted with propshafts binding after fitting Parabolic springs due to the height increase, however I think this was on the front prop due to binding on crossmember.

There have been issues raised around this on some of the Land Rover forums, might be worth Googling

My series 3 has a newish galv chassis (not sure where from) and I recently had Rocky Mountain rear parabolics fitted. The car sits higher and I found the rear prop was knocking horribly afterwards but after replacing the prop (cheap enough, as usual for these things!) it's fine. Certainly no binding. I'm not sure what measurements might be useful but if you want me to take any let me know!
