Anyone got any good road suggestions for the Scottish borders? Going to be spending a couple of nights in Northumberland next weekend. Thinking of heading up to St Mary's Loch, then maybe down towards Lockerbie, possibly via the Buddist temple. Any reccomendations for must see roads in the area?

Planning on the lake district (hardknott and the like) on the way home so not planning looking to go that far south.

I'm heading up that way myself in a couple of weeks and found some decent looking roads on this site:

I have just got back from a monster ride starting in Glasgow (to St Albans), crossing the Scottish Borders via the A721 to Peebles, then onto Galashiels via the A72, then onto the A68 right down to Darlington. Truly awesome!!! The A697 Coldstream route is fun too. Starting on teh A1 north of Newcastle and joining the top part of teh A68 and on towards Edinburgh.

Kielder, Rothbury, Hartside.

They are the main biking routes around my area.

St Marys lock is a good run, but that's way into Scotland.

Quite a few of the guys are heading towards the lake district on Saturday but a few of us are stopping at Hartside on the way up on friday (I love the Melmerby side) and I'm not back to work until Tuesday so thinking Lake district on the way home.

Don't know Rothbury, looks like some good roads round there on the map and not far from where we're staying.
