Hi

On a different posting, a few of the comments said trumpets socks are not a good idea?
I'm don't understand why. Could someone explain?

Cheers

They're slightly restrictive compared to a regular filter as they damp out the pressure wave occurring at the end of the trumpet. Also as they age they become soft and can then be sucked into the engine under full throttle.

Plus they don't really filter all that well.

It's not that they are a bad idea, it's just that there are better ideas. Ideally the open end on an inlet tract should have a space between it and the next surface of at least 1.5 times the diameter of the open end. Socks tend to sit far too close to the open end. Also, what they others have said.
