The disks that are for sale with the calipers are no good to you, so you will need to buy either Granada vented disks or the AP Bells and rotors, which are hard to get.The Calipers may also not have the right spacers, so you may need new spacers and bolts depending on the disks you use. There is a write up about this upgrade on the TVRWedgePages www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk/

Hmmm. 'Low reserve', it says. Current bidding is at £103 and that reserve has not been met. Am I the only one who thinks they are getting a little expensive?

Paid £80 for a pair 3 years ago. This didn't include the spacers or longer bolts

Yep, mintex do the 1144 compound. Can dig the number out if you need it.

Also standard pads - AP Lockeed K8161-2N - if they are the same for a big wedge, which I think they are.

Ian

Getting expensive as the seals and especially pistons are becomming like what ever cliche you wish to use.

Last time I had to refurb one of these it cost £18 per piston which makes around £74 per caliper!

I checked before I bought the calipers and found that they are no longer available new from Lockheed, although
they will rebuild your own for £75 + VAT each.
Last pair I saw was two years ago at an autojumble and priced at £150 and in poor condition.
Given that they are becoming harder to find, and when they come with the spacers fitted for vented discs I
reckon my £180 was not to bad a price. Granada vented discs are only about £30 each. Plus i`ve got Escort
vented discs to sell on ebay and maybe get some money back.
Are the Mintex pads mentioned earlier in thread a harder compound than standard and does anyone know the
part no. for them ?
Thanks
Dave

Dug out the receipt for the Mintex pads. Says MLB521144. Don't know if this is a Mintex P/N or a number specific to the place I bought them. Bought them from Friction Linings in Manchester 0161 273 7646.

MLB52 is the pad outline, 1144 means it uses 1144 fast road material. Standard Mintex part number.

Thanks for that info, I`ll get me a set of them and the Granny vented discs, that should help the stoping.
Cheers

Princess calipers are heavy as f**k. There are other options available if you look around. I used them on my TR8 and was dissapointed. Wilwood make some good compact aluminium stuff which will work well. They have bigger pistons for more 'force' which is proportional to area.
