So.....
The GSXR is due for it's first service.
As i dont have a car i asked the salesman if he could sort me out with a courtesy bike for when mines being services - no problem he said.
I was curious, as to what most places will use as a courtesy bike?
Is it likely to be something ex-demo, soemthing really shocking or a scooter?
He said if they did'nt have any courtesy bikes he'd give me a demo bike whilst it was being serviced.
What's everyones guesses as to what it is?
(I dont have a clue yet)

Main dealer will likely be something newish and nakedish. If it's an independent, it could be any old shonker! Place I know of have an FJ1200 which is about 15 years old with a gazillion miles on it as their courtesy bike!
Or, if it's a main dealer, and you *might* just be *possibly* thinking about a new bike, ask for one of their demonstrators. My last service, on my Gixxer Thou, I had a new KTM 990SM for half a day (although I was actually thinking of buying, but didn't in the end).

Lol i got mine from bridge in exeter which is the main dealer for triumph, suzuki, yamaha, kawasaki, honda etc etc.
Its a huge shop.
He said if the service dept don't sort me out with a courtesy bike i can go and speak to the sales guy and he'll give me a demo bike.
Might just do that & try and get the R6!
I would try the whole im looking to buy thing but i only got mine brand new a month ago so dont reckon it'll work.
They showed me round their workshop & store last time & there wasnt anything shoddy there so im hoping it'll be soemthing half decent!

The place I use for odd jobs that require more tools than I have to hand gave me another SV the last time I took my bike in. The thing was in such a poor state it was enough to make me weep. Well at least I would have done if it hadn't been such a bare knuckle ride trying to keep the thing pointing in the right direction due to the knackered shocks, brakes, headlights, tyres, non-existent clutch...

...it's the sort of thing that suggests that they aren't any good to me.Edited by dern on Wednesday 24th September 12:56
I've only had a courtesy bike twice - the first was a bloody moped! I must have looked like a prize tw@t riding it home in my full leathers!
Second one was better, a Kwaka Versys they had for sale, with only a few thousand miles on it, and was great fun. It had a stupidly low first gear, so wheelied every time you got going!
Don't normally get one, though, as I live too close to the dealer..

Quite, although to be fair to them they were a mate's recommendation and have always done a decent job of the work I've asked them to do (not that that equates to much). Regardless though I always do my utmost inspect the work prior to riding of into the sunset (if we had such a thing in this country). That's just me though, would do it regardless of the garage after hearing horror stories from various people including my instructor where, in a particular incident, the front wheel hadn't been reaffixed properly and led to an excursion into the front of an on-coming lorry. Lots of broken bones and a very lucky survival later and you have one story to make you paranoid.
when i took my Thunderace in for a service at George Whites Swiindon in 2000 , i joked about having a Busa demo for the day ,
Turned up and there it was , 25 miles on the clock , ended up buying one .
Then when that went in I asked for a ZX12 demo , and they let me have one for the day .
Also had a gixxer 1000 from G Whites at Slough, (although i would never ever take a bike back to that branch again )
