If it's anything like the Duratech R400 which I helped install recently you'll probably need to remove the alternator and the engine mounts before it will drop into the engine bay. Without doing that the bell housing was hard against the pedal box with the alternator resting on the front upper cross member irrespective of the angle it was presented at. No major drama to reinstall once the engine is in.

Marchhare,

Yes thanks for that feedback, I had already decided to do just that.

I also need to take off the gearshift from the top of the quaife sequential box, but I don't know what effect that will have on anything in the box.

Think I had better call Caterham in the morning to check first.

Nige.

And I heard from Tim that my car is going to be delivered on Monday. Yippee. The engine won't be with it but I'm sure there's plenty to be getting on with judging by all your pics. Only problem is I'm away for much of October so won't get much done now until Nov. Still I guess I'm unlikely to be driving it until next year.
