Long Wank Round, Long Wank Down, Nick Sanders, Jupiter's Travels, Lois on the Loose, Rach's Big Adventure...

I'm skint, mechanically inept, have a Mrs Dibble, a job, a mortgage and I'm still learning to ride.

Now I've seen those bloody pictures of the Spain trip on here.

Should I just say "Sod it", book a couple of weeks off work, and head south on my own with a credit card, a passport and my bike, and see where the roads take me

How much preparation do I need to do? Travel alone, or find someone else who wants to go with me? I've already established with my good mate who rides an R1 that he's a no go - he's too quick for mwe, and we'd end up ready to kill each other within half a day.

Come on people, sort my life out for me.

I was reading wuite a funny letter in this months Bike magazine about a guy who told his wife he had a business meeting for a week and the bike was in to be serviced...when in fact he just buggered off on a lone trek. Sounded like great fun!

Sod it and do a ride on your own before the Weather breaks. Do a week around Scotland or Ireland.
Or how about just doing a long weekend around the Lakes?

I just read that too about half an hour ago on the bog (too much detail, I know) and that didn't help, either.

The Lakes is too close, and I've spent too much time up there, albeit in my youth.

I fancy heading South... Again, not helped by a DVD I picked up yesterday while waiting to apy for some chain cleaner in the local bike shop. It was a home made jobbie by three guys who'd spent a grand each and taken three weeks off, and ended up in Marrkech/Casablana.

So you must be just north of Liverpool? Do you get out on the bike much just for fun? Or is it all work?

Yep

No biking at all for work - other than commuting the 7 miles each way - sometime swith the odd "60 mile shortcut home" thrown in. Get out every week "just for fun", even it's only a few miles to somewhere for a brew.

Well I'm always out on the bike, and sometimes up that way as I have few friends in Liverpool. If you fancy a hoon give me a shout. Don't be fooled by the name, I'm fairly law abiding....and not very fast smile

If you're feeling like that whatever you do, make sure you don't get either of the DVD's Terra Circa or Mondo Enduro!! they will definitely push you over the edge.....smile

P1$$.
Already seen the DVDs, and made the mistake of looking at Rach*'s links.

I've changed my mind about going with someone, as that's the surest way I know to split up a friendship.

I'd love to be able just to ffok off, but know that I can't just do a Reggie due to Mrs D, dogs, job, house...

I just fancy a road trip to take in the sights as I go. I'm not too bothered about going too fast, but would like some interesting diversion along the way.

The world is your lobster then. You could easily do Morocco, riding down through Spain (and France if you chose not to use the long ferry routes).

You can take a note of the locations of cheapo hotels like Formule one or Etap - fine for a stopover.

I know a nice B&B in the Massif Central area. Some lovely scenery there and great roads.

Or you could head East - Istanbul?
