Hi guys and girls,

I am looking to buy a 08 R6 and wondered how much you think I can get it down from a list price of £7,500. I will also be buying a lid, textiles jacket + trousers (possibley Rukka), , S4-C1 datatool alarm, datatool fortress ground anchor and lock, crash bungs, tail tidy so about another £1,000 - £1,200 in accessories in the same shop if they do a decent deal and stock the items.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

you should get a bit off the bike, but don't expect silly discounts. The gear is where you'll save your money. As for a guide price, can't help you there as some dealers are more willing to sweeten the deal than others smile

Ive seen some advertised new for £5995, may be imports but that would not worry me.

I forgot to say i am fortunate that I can pay cash if it gets a better deal. So far with a few enquiries I have been offered one for £6,800 with tail tidy and alarm.

If list is about £7500 i think you'd be doing very well to get anymore than £250 off.

I'd take their arm off for that, well, be cheeky and say 6700 and see what's said smile

Yeah I'm pretty sure DK are advertising them for that price. They're a good bike shop, Bike magazine seem to source most of their bikes for features there.

Yeah DK do have them cheap and they are imports. I am not sure that I am comfortable with buying an import as this is my first bike and dont know much about them to be honest. £6,800 seems like a good deal then for a Uk bike.

Every year about Autumn you'll see old stock, UK model supersports 600s for about £5800-£6000 in MCN and the like. You'll see second hand UK bikes going for more. All to clear the way for the 'new' model; with new stickers, anyway.

Have a word with Carole Nash as a year or so ago they were doing a fantastic deal of

Datatool alarm
Insurer-friendly chain,
Ground anchor (fitted)
Optimate (with the fly lead fitted to the bike)

All for £300.

Are the George White deals any good to you? http://www.georgewhite.co.uk/?category=30&subc...

On the subject of the price...would have thought you could get close to £1000 off (going against the grain here!) - not sure about at GWs though, as they have that deal. But the market is supposed to be really slow these days...back when it was a lot better (April '07) I paid £6100 for a GSX-R600K7 whose RRP was £6995. And everything I've heard these days is that dealers will rip your arm off for a sale of any kind...

At the end of the day you just need to phone around and ask though, no point me telling you what you "should" get it for...
