brave move for the boy, many see their careers in AMA as so lucrative the switch never happens, I hope he does well, he's a bit of a Hopper / Edwards mix, now lets see how he gets on .... a good new face to have in WSBK

Time will tell if he's going to be another Bostrum.

I'm more than surprised that he didn't stay at Suzuki.

to be fair, the new gsxr will do nothing in racing terms and ama is going down the pan, the time was right for a move...

The AMA is going to the dogs though and he's been on the class bike of the field for the last few years, I'm sure despite the money it can get very boring winning races (new challenges being a big motivator for people to leave winning teams and make it elsewhere) and only having your team mate challenging for wins. His success meant he wanted to test himself and get onto a bigger stage. Suzuki MotoGP for reasons unexplained has resigned Capirossi and Alstare Suzuki seem to be persisting with Nieto, so he had to sever Suzuki links to get a good ride. I think the Yamaha should be good for him and at least Tom Sykes won't have a seasoned WSBK rider as a team mate knowing all the circuits and blowing him into the weeds and causing a crisis of confidence. They'll both be learning the bike and the circuits, lets see who does it quickest.

I thought that he would have stayed at Suzuki, after all he's had a few races on the GP bike. I wonder if that's the reason that the GP team is staying with it's current line up.

I'm also wondering if Yamaha have promised him a GP ride if he wins the WSB title within the next couple of seasons?

the gp squad staying the same was the reason why spies moved to wsbk

Fairy muff.

Not much loyalty from Suzuki to Spies for winning a few domestic titles in one of the worlds biggest markets.

It seems to have been an 11th hour decision since Spies was racing the GP bike in America last month.

Is Leon confirmed yet on the Stiggy bikes ?

Spies had to move as AMA is dead and new challenge etc . . .

The interesting bit will be how the paddock and the team manage his mother, not him, but his mother . . . Strange set up but potentially storyline after storyline with this controversial pit accenssory.

hahahahahaaaa I need to get some glasses and read more carefully , i read it as resigned .

Mamola was saying on Eurosport that Spies had a MotoGP offer with Suzuki but kept demanding more and differents additions ,

he also said that Edwards was near his end and Spies should have that ride !

More like Spies mother was demanding more and more from Suzuki.

A right pain in the arse from what I've heard.
