Currently thinking about purchasing a winter car to be used when car is not behaving / two days per week to keep miles off the car (as I'm going to be doing quite a few miles again) smile

My only criteria is -
Cheapish to run and insure
RWD
As cheap as possible sub £1000 motoring

Had a E36 318iS Coupe auto last winter which was a good enough car for this type of motoring and I didn't lose any money when I sold it!

It has come down to either an E36 3 Series or an E34 5 Series, which is going to be the better for this type of "work"?

I will get flamed for this but I did exactly the same thing (sold my 750il, pending 850 in the spring) so picked up an LS400

Absolute bargain
Reliable
RWD
Comfortable and quite quick too
