Goring-on-sea advice please

I've got to go to a funeral Thursday late afternoon and would like advice on a meeting point. My brother and I have never been to Goring before and we're travelling towards it from opposite directions. He's going by car and I'm going down by train (Goring-on-sea station).
Could anyone give a recommendation on a suitable place to meet up for lunch?
I'm thinking there might be a 30-50 minute wait for each other to arrive so a friendly pub on the seafront that does good food would be the most likely option

Pub on the A27 which is not too far from the Station, just head north until you see the roundabout and the pub is on the left.
It has been awhile since I ate there, not brilliant but a pint is a pint prior to a funeral, Swallows return I think it is called.

Thanks ) but I'm the one going by train ( with the dodgy timetable)...so walking distance from the Station is what I need.

Point B = A pub (Can't for the life of me remember the name), next door is the VAG dealership & next to these two is about 5-6 places for food also (Although mostly take-away if I remember right). 1-2 Banks are also available in that same parade along Goring Way by point B.

That pub is The Mulberry, a bit further than the Swallows Return.

Much closer to the station is The Bull in Goring Street. Head South from the station, (the road over the level crossing is Goring Street), cross Goring Way and Goring Street resumes at a slight offset. Pub is towards the far end. Haven't been there for ages so can't give an opinion on it.
Swallows Return is good for food but not for pedestrian access as it was a barn with farm buildings in a field until a few years ago!

I hadn't realised that Goring-on-sea isn't that close to the sea...I had fondly imagined just stepping out of the train and a few hundred yards later would be sipping a beer , watching the waves hit the shore and boats bobbing about in the sea.

I could always take a taxi (bus, if there is one ?) to the seafront. If that would increase the recommendations

Almost!

You see on the map, where you reach the junction @ Goring Way, after you've left the station? There's actually a bus stop there to the right (or was it left? Either way, it's right there!) as you approach that junction when walking.

That can take you straight into the town centre then you're spoilt for choice with seaside cafe's in Worthing

I've now returned from my short trip to Goring....fortunately my brother was there to meet me and we went to a pub in Ferring for lunch.
We did look for any of the recommendations....but were obviously on the wrong road....because we saw nothing!
I don't know if everything has dissappeared ....but it was just a small holt type stop with no-one around, and the whole place seemed deserted.

Goring is a touch quiet to say the least...
I used to work at a dealership in Ferring and that was very quiet, but there are some nice hidden pub's there (The one just over Ferring station is nice).

The one right on the corner of Ferring Street that has cars leaning over the corner of that dodgy bend heading into Sea Lane?

Thats the one, i'm working there again for a day next week to fill in as the manager is away, but normally based in Shoreham...
That corner is a nightmare! we have to have one person stand in the road and one guide the car in incase someone comes flying round.
