I'm considering buying one of these soon so i'm looking for some good forums to find info on the B5 s4 Audi's

What's their common problems?

Most seem to be at the 100k miles mark now so is there any expensive parts that should/would of been changed by now, and what are they and cost?

Is there any certain spec thats more desirable?

Thanks in advance!!

I posted this a while ago, there have been quite a few past discussions in here also:

Panel gaps should be perfect.

Bad paint is easily seen in shuts and under door handles.

When the airflow sensor (MAF) starts to wear out it will feel reluctant/lazy to rev. If it hasn't had one by about 60k it will likely need one (£150 ish replacement)

Standard plastic diverter valves also wear out, metal replacements are £85 each.

Boost hoses can dry, crack and pop off on mmodified cars.

2nd gear synchro goes scrunchy if abused.

'DIS' display on the instrument binnacle will suffer dead pixels/lines. New binnacle is £750+ but can repair them for 100-150. Good bargaining point.

Volume knob on the stereo will fail at some point, again, it's a misconception you have to replace the unit and we can repair for ~85+VAT.

Front suspension is complicated and prone to wearing bushes. Even if they're not MOT fails they can make the front end feel very sloppy.

Longlife servicing (i.e. up to 20k miles) is not ideal; seen a few issues where longlife cars have suffered stty old mayyonaise oil in the head causing starvation to the cams. This will write the engine off. Oil every 10k (or more often) is essential.

as the standard response goes: for owners forum, you need to go here: http://www.rs246.com/

Aside from that, i have one, great car, fairly quick, sooooo much grip it's just unreasonable.
Prices seem to be dropping over the last 12 months so turning into a bit of a bargain at the moment.
for servicing and upgrades, recommend these guys: http://www.mrctuning.com/
Not a lot these guys don't know about S/RS Audis.
