Ok I've just swapped master cylinders and had a new pipe made up. Got all connected and the new cylinder is not pumping the fluid like it should. Even after slackening the bleed nipple there's still no sign of any fluid being pumped as the level stays the same.

I changed the cylinder on my series 1 a few years ago with no problems - I'm now completely baffled.

Incidently, the replacement cylinder was not bought from a TVR outlet. Its a Girling and is identical to my old one though I've hod to change the rod over to fit the pedal.

As usual, your advice is appreciated.

Try disconnecting the pipe from the slave cylinder and sucking like hell on it. It primes the pipes and can be the solution. I used to do this with m/cycle brakes that were being obstinate.
Of course you may get a mouthful of hydraulic fluid but you can't have everything ;-)

yeah i just replaced mine with a unit from demon tweeks £38 +vat had to change the rod over as well, mine wouldnt pump either so i used my pressure bleeder ( clutch and brake cylinders have the same thread lid on mine) it now works a treat, not crunching into fourth at high revs any more. good luck jon.

Thanx so far guys. How does the pressure bleeder work, did you use it to prime the system?
