...just got mt S2 back from Tower View - having had a 12k service and new throttle pot.

Unfortunataly it seems not to have cured the problem.. idle speed is very low (c.750 revs) which means pulling away often seesthe revs go dangerously close to stalling prior to pick up....

are they all like this?..is the problem just in my head?

I remember reading on a ford enthusiasts website somewhere that the 2.9 v6 should idle at somewhere between 800-900 rpm.

You mean you are pulling away at tickover with no throttle? Low idle shouldn't stop you balancing clutch and throttle when you pull away. Maybe I misunderstood the problem?

mine used to do this, could try cleaning the idle speed control valve with some white spirit.helped with mine. you will need a gasket when you put it back.
