Took the car out for a spin earlier and all ok. Parked and tried to get out the car by pressing the door release button and nothing happened! Door will open from the remote control ok, so got out, but can anyone guess what this problem is? I've tried resettin the relays in the boot and no luck. Passenger door ok.

appreciate any feedback. cheers

Door will open from the remote control? How does that work? (Senses the possibility of a new gadget)

Have you tried winding down the window, and using the external button to try and narrow it down a bit?

Mirror button has been disabled by the previous owner when he had the alarm fitted. I've got a Clifford alarm that remotely opens the doors.

What about the emergency red handle door release, was that working?

Anyway, you've probably had water get into the door at somepoint and has effected the switch. You need to take the skin off and de-gunk the switch, clean it up and as mentioned on here previously wrap it back up in a plastic bag to protect it further.

If the remote opens the door but not the button I guess that the switch mechanism isn't connected to the same relay as the remote?? Um?

I have had this problem and it was down to a faulty connection (plug and socket) behind the door trim. Fixed with a clean up and spray of WD 40.

Would make sense if your non standard remote thingy is connected to the same relay as the door buttons, you mention in another thread that you've found a wire under the dash somewhere. Does it look like its been snipped, or become un plugged from somewhere. May have been cut, to disable the mirror button, and the remote now uses that supply.

Thanks for all the advice. Took the door panel off, disconnected all of the wires, sprayed with WD40, wrapped in a plastic bag and put panel back on again, and....still not blxxdy working!

One good thing is I'll never leave the key inside the car!

Anyone got any further ideas?

The corrosion in my multiplg was pretty bad when I took it off... some of the wires were brittle and rather fragile... They looked ok but had lost all conductivity.

I've done a temp fix for the moment but am gonna need to replce the complete mulitplugs in the future....
