The starter solenoid on my 944 has packed up. The starter will fire up if given a crack with a hammer but without nothing, not even a click anymore.

Took the solenoid off and it has absolutely no strength so looked at prices for a new starter which are a tad obscene with the cheapeast weighing in at £150 and a Bosch replacement being £180.

The thing I was wondering is where can I get just the solenoid from? Looked at the Porsche price list and they list a solenoid part for the 1988 onwards cars but on the 82-88 it just lists the whole starter.

Try your Yellow Pages and see if you have anyone over-hauling starter motors in your area - they may be able to help with a solinoid re-wind.

I don't suppose it is the same as 924 2.0 is it? I ask as I have one sat here twiddling it's thumbs.

No spare 944 motors at the moment I'm afraid.

I have no idea, I should take a pic of it and see if there is a model number on it at some point.

Just sent you a PM regarding this as it seems the 924 motor is the same as the 944.
