Is it possible to have the old style 4.2 clutch fitted to a very early 4.5?

I have a 98 R reg 4.5, build No 9 apparently. I have noticed that there is a resonance around 2k revs which Im told is a trait of the old early 4.2 clutch.

Is this possible???????
If its not the old style clutch, what else could be causing this?

Cheers,

Matt.

Don't know about the clutch, but your vibration could be an engine mount, or something else loose, worth a good look round.

What sort of resonance?
I have a rythmic vibration that i will be trying to eliminate. It feels like it is passing thru the length of the car.
It's been mentioned that it sounds similar to the mysterious driveline vibration on the early 4.2's with no known cure.
Thing is mine just started recently so i hope that's not it.

I get a resonance through the transmission tunnel in 4th when accelerating from approx. 2500rpm.

Had put it down to a trait of the car???

the first 4.5s came with the early clutch anyway, that's what you've got so if it goes it's bit bill time

on a fact finding mission yesterday I phoned around many tvr dealers to find out how much they'd charge me for the parts alone to do the job myself, they ranged from 800 pounds to 1200 pounds for the same bits plus vat .. how can one tvr dealer charge 400 pounds more than another ..? aren't parts supposed to be all the same price??
anyway, reckon on a grand average for parts and 300 to fit?
this is one of the few occasions where the indi route isn't that much cheaper either, you'll save on the labour but the parts discounts are not very high.
