I realise that this is probably of little or no interest to anyone else on this forum, but I had my SatNav (Tom Tom Go 720T) stolen from under my nose in London a couple of weeks ago. I was furious and tried to vent my spleen, by imagining what I would to the thieving toerag if I ever had the oportunity.

Imagine my surprise when later that evening I got a phone call from the Police saying they had picked up a lad who matched the description of the boy seen cycling off with said SatNav and even better he still had my TomTom on him! I offered to by the officer a drink if he should happen to fall down the stairs, but I don't think he was keen to take me up on the offer, not like the good old days...

Yet you are happy to scratch other peoples cars and walk away... nice one.

At least you got it back

My van was broken into ( I may say there was nothing in view)

Not only did they get the sat nav ( Tom Tom V3) they also got the mount and the power cable

As well as my 40 GB iriver MP3 player with its power charger

And before you say it they were all stored in different places in the car.

The van was also in an area that was being watched by a cctv camera

And I still did not get any of it back

My hands were getting dirty with the fingerprint dust for days after the event

Whilst some aspects of Sharia law seem harsh by western standards, they've certainly got the right idea about thieves!

I have just bought a TT730 with password protection, have put a sticker on the back of the unit saying it is password protected, it will hopefully make them think twice before nicking it!

I very much doubt it.
