Hi all,

I'm thinking about purchasing an Audi RS4 with just over 100k on the clock. Is there anything I should watch out for on inspecting a car like this? Also does anybody have an idea of general running costs etc?

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

There have been a few threads on S4s and RS4s on here lately, so have a cruise through those as a first port of call but to skim through some of the top of my head:

MAF - airflow sensor
Diverter valves
Suspension bushes (all of them)
Accident damage
LCD on the dashbaord between speedo and tacho
Odd tyre wear
Clocking!
A proper, specialist service history is preferable to main dealer these days.
Smoke
Regular oil changes/clean oil.
Top end noise.
Brake discs and pads (expensive to renew, not always in stock).

Could you link us to the car you're looking at?

Do yourself a huge favour and prior to buying get it looked over by one of the specialists who post on rs246 just in case.

Hot turbos not being allowed to cool down let's nasty gunky congealed oil gather in the skinny oilways to the head; starving the camshafts. Basically writes the engine off as there's no way to guarantee you've emptied it of swarf.
