short on heater controls

The heater panel on my 4.3 Griff works as and when it likes. When its good its very very good with all LED's etc lit. When its bad there is nothing but a black panel with non functioning swithes/knobs. I assume its a bad earth yet my dials all work OK. Are these controls on a seperate earth of live?? any advice would be a great help.

Not too sure I can offer too much assistance on this one(check the topics I've posted in my profile). If it's any help my control panel is currently disconnected at the fuse box, this disables all the motors that control the fans, heater motors etc. The alarm indicator, the windows etc still work and so do all the dials. If you've got a copy of the bible, it has the wiring diagram in it.
