Just a quick one has anyone here had any issues with their 535d?

We know that the 320d's had issues with the butterfly/plastic which ruined the engine, the 330d had issues with injectors & plastic impellors on their water pumps, what quirk/issue do 535d's have?

Turbo actuators is the only drama i've seen. Mine has had one (335d) and i know ate least 5 other confirmed failures of same.

Warranty covered it, and the parts were in stock, which tells you its a common failure.

Apart from that, no major dramas i've heard of.

What sort of price are these? Just thinking for cars bought/issues after BMW warranty has ended (would it be worth extending the warranty)

Yes, because its such a mechanically and electronically complex car.

Agreed, i wouldn't own a later BMW without it. BMW turbo's don't have a fantastic history, probably more because 1st owners don't warm them down properly, also the stupidly long service intervals will start showing earlier failures imo. I carry out interim oil/filter changes every 8k. The car asks for them every 17-20k. No oil is that good, especially after its been round a tractor engine for 20k.

Silver - could you add servicing costs to your blog (so that it fills in the cost per mile for your vehicle).

Likewise all other owners. I find this free feature of PHead very good normal services, VED, insurance, fuel, non std servicing/repairs, tyres & a full review of your car.

Many thanks.
I've done this for all the cars Ive owned as best as I can remember cost wise & so have countless other people so come on you lot with 535d's we know your in the top 3% of earners but spare some time to fill it in smile

Because its a car enthu site. Putting down costs is good for yourself to keep a track of it and also for other potential buyers.

We can all state oh x car is cheap to run but y car isnt well by putting down the costs as per your profile is part and parcel of it.

Otherwise should you disagree I suggest you ask the Moderators "Why" they bother putting that functionality in.

Also "Why" is there a thread "Wilkopedia MPG real life" ? its a source of usefull data.

Clearly if you have a dog of a car with constant problems and in the future looking to sell it it might not be the best place to be putting down your issues as it would put off some potential buyers.

Welshbeef, you are the definition of a 'researcher', which are the most annoying breed of people to car salesmen. When you go to dealerships do you carry a small notebook? Do you compare running costs with an excel spreadsheet? Just think, if you were a bit more spontaneous you could have been driving your new car round for, I don't know, most of your adult life. Just make a decision and get one bought!!

would love to help you out wb, but after a long day at the office I'd rather spend some time with my family tbh.
Also, I only get to drive mine at the weekends, the wife drives it more than I do.

All I know is a 535d is a great car, as many on ph have informed you previously. How much more of a recommendation do you need?

What do you want to know??

Pre LCI will do between 25-35mpg, post LCI will do 30-40mpg.

A 2008 car is loosing £1000 a month, 2007 around £700 a month, 2006 around £450 a month, 2005 around £350 a month.

Rear tyres last between 8-15k miles, fronts you can double or treble.

Servicing is cheap.

While you have been trying to decide on a 535d I have changed cars 3 times for fecks sake!! smile

Surely if the running costs/depreciation are that important you can't really afford to run one?? Won't you just be worrying about the financial side of things all the time rather than enjoying the car??
The 535d is not the sort of car you can drive easily when you want to get good economy, the only way you can do that is have a lucky day with empty roads, and that I think will annoy you.

Life Cycle Impulse = Facelift Model, build date end of march 07 onwards. Distinguishable by LED tail lights, 'joystick' style gearstick. Internally - revised interior, 335d engine, much better gearbox.
