Just noticed that my 99 Chim 4.0 is leaking a fluid on the garage floor.

Only a relatively small amount, but it's in a couple of little puddles.

The fluid is sort of clearish, maybe off-white in appearance. It's not oil or water for sure.

The pools are in-front of the front wheels, left hand side.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Simon

I had this when the radiator was leaking - but my pools were blue due to the antifreeze - also noticed this when I wash the car then put it away and the water left in there drains onto the floor

Could be the rad - open the bonnet and look at the ledge under the radiator and you may see some residual water that is then leaking out of one of the rain water outlets.

Mine did this last year and I replaced the rad as it was knackered - not a cheap job so have a look at some of the threads on PH about it - a main dealer is expensive, unless you have it covered on the warranty.

Pretty sure it's not water, it is too thick (bit like me and the oily bits!).

To be honest the only thing I can compare it too is epoxy resin - don't laugh - in appearance and the way it looks on the floor.

Water splays out all over the place, this stuff seems to hold itself in one place so the puddle/pool is about 2-3mm high.

Not doing a very good job of describing this am I!

My chim was leaking same sorta fluid from same sorta place. Went into Mr Batty`s and problem was solved more or less instantly. Split in the power steering pipe.
You don`t get the service i recieved from many garages nowadays. 1st class.

Sounds a bit like Power Steering Fluid, check your U pipe near the pump, prone to leaking I think

Gotta be honest, i spent hours searching for the pesky leak but alas, could`nt spot it. The experts knew without even looking but then they would would`nt they.
