Hi all,

just had a drive around Cambridge looking for exhaust olives (moral is if your exhaust is getting a bit noisy, do tighten it up before the bolts and then the olive drop out!)

In the end I found Jag V12 ones from Unipart. I have got 2 types, the BLG1 ones (traditionally Jag the manifold to downpipe) which are about the same dimensions as the TVR cast iron ones, and the much deeper BLG10 ones (downpipe to next section). I'll try the BLG1's first as they are most like the originals.

I use a but of past around the olives to seal it up when putting it all back to geather, i should look at putting in new ones in some time soon

Hi, the ones I got are Arvin part no. BLG1AE Jaguar/daimler items from Unipart. They are same diameter but wider with slimmer, steeper shoulders, but are made from aluminium with a fibre infill which look like they will crush on tightening to provide a better seal. Probably can only be used the once. I haven't fitted them yet. They cost £2 each. Regards, Mark

Well I'm not convinced of the longevity of the Arvin BLG1AE (Arvin Part Number 110041) although it must be said that the exhaust was dsturbed at the last service. I've just fitted another one on the LSH as the last one was chewed up and spat out by the exhaust. Let's see how long it lasts this time.

Incdentally Arvin Replacement Products Limited are based in Blackpool - how's that for a coincidence?

Adam the coincedence is even stranger,Arvin Meritor are a truly global company who used to own through a takeover of Bainbridge the factory at Blackpool, they closed the factory and pulled out leaving a disused factory building, this was the building that was offered to N. Smolenski by Blackpool Council to house TVR.smile

Stranger than fiction...

Anyhoo I have just had another of the BLG1's spat out, so it seems these are useless. A friend with a Jag tells me that the exhaust pipe passes through the centre of these on the Jag application, which presumably protects the fibre bit from the gases.

So I have now fitted the BLG10's. These need longer bolts for the clamps but do go on. They give the exhaust a kind of fruity sound - they are so bit it's a bit like having a couple of cherry bombs in-line ;^)

Just got myself two new ones that are matched to the originals. Not yet installed, but like to think they will be fine....
Part information: Supplier Walker exhaust systems, code 21-82500, description gasket ring Volvo. Perhaps helpfull if you are still looking for alternatives.
This is on a 350i and the size of the olive is ok for the old system or the new stainless one.

These look cast Adam. Solid inside out and were like 5 Euros.
