In this economic climate how much do you guys reckon the following is worth:

a 1996 Alpina 3.2 B3 Coupe. Tidy nic, no SH, 92k, was a cat-d once but tax, mot and a good runner biggrin

Its number 35 if thats of interest.

Loads up at 6k, Im thinking around 4k maybe for this one??

Cheers

Loads advertised at £6k, changing hands for maybe £4500-5000 at most??

I would say barter harder on one with some history and not a CatD. Could have done 180k miles for all you know and cost you £2000 in the first 6 months.

I would want that for £2-3k at most.

well i was looking at buying it as a cat D for around 2k, reckon it would be less than 1k to fix as its all superficial then sell it on for a profit.

the guy wants to break it which saddens me!

For BMW's with no history and sub 100k miles add a '1' to stated mileage. Perhaps a '2' if its old enough.

Totally agree, I have called BMW about 3 different cars, all with service books but some funny gaps between the servicing, like no service for 2 years and then only 5k miles, stuff like that. All stamps in place and look legit, but smelt funny.

One with 62k miles. After a call to BMW it was last seen 2 years previously with 138k miles on it.

Then there was a 530i touring with 80k miles, had been into a main dealer the previous year with 170k miles on it.

I wouldn't even look at a BMW with no history, or do some serious homework on it or you may get your fingers very burnt.

Found a 2001 530i at auction a few years back. Mileage listed as 135k. Rang BMW, got the dealer visits, traced a nice full BMW history so decided to have a crack on it. It turned out to be a shed with seriously crud paintwork and the interior was a state. It sold for some ridiculously low figure.

2 weeks later it was on Autotrader with 87k miles...
