Whilst removing my Dash, i found the reason why my car was always blowing Hot air into the cabin.
The cable that controls the hot/cold air on the upper big Disc has in fact snapped.

I cant see where the other end of the cable goes...has anyone changed one recently ?

I tried to find this out some time back,

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=45081&f=8&h=0&hw

Don't want to be negative here but my cable works fine and the heat still keeps coming. Would like to know the answer when you find out, there is always the possibility things are not all well at the other end.

Ive had a better look and i will replace the cable...its only a short length.

I will let you know if i get to the fortunate postion of having full control over the heat inside the car.

You sound more than capable of achieving full control over the heater - the heat however may not be so easy. There are very few things in life I like to see more than optimism

A large part of the problem is that the "cold" air has to pass pretty close to the engine, so it's either hot or hotter by the time it gets to the vents

Maybe the dots on the heater control should be orange / red instead of blue / red. Problem solved

Replaced the aformentioned cable and to my surprise, i have hot air on the hot and cold air on the cold.
This must be a first for a TVR?

The cable was tricky (fiddly) to fit at the end which sadly is under the dash in the passenger footwell. I had to assume the tonyrec upside down position again. This time for about 20mins as i struggleD to get the end of the cable into the little hole.
Eventually it all popped in ok. Must be the cheapest thing that ive bought from TVR....£6.20

An optimist thinks the glass is half full,
A pessimist thinks the glass is half empty,
An engineer thinks the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

Proper cold air, not even a little warm? Would you be prepared to take a lie detector test?
