How long does this engine have to last? If it's to be any real use, I'd suggest a filthy great big block with a huge blower bolted to the top. I can't think of many other ways of getting 1000 bhp that will last much more than a few hours.

Boosted Big block - but remember they aren't called big blocks because they are small and light.

cheap and somple is what am after as for how long it will last is another matter lol

there is always rumors on forum's of oh it wont do this without uprated part's but because one person's engine goes pop dont mean it is down to this .

most common cause is det by poor mapping imo or genrealy something letting go.

i am a big fan of home brew project's just using what i can lay my hand's on at the right price and making it work .

can we have some name's when pepole say big block etc as my knolege on that sort of engine is real poor .

my first choice was 2jz with powerglide as realy after something simple but can make the power .

if it goes pop bang just build it better next time around you never no the weak area's untill it break's

thanks

A big block chevy starts at 427 cubic inches and gets bigger thereafter. Boost on pne of those will make a lot of power and you won't need to use a lot.

Lots of parts can be bought for these engines cheaply if you look around.

mmmmm why can i not decide and i keep thinking it's only a little bit more money lol

would it be possible to get one of these say 500bhp and bolt dirty big turbo on the side , am presuming would have to speciy low compreshion piston's

or is it just a big headache and better of just sticking basic with big bhp as it comes .

what sort of gearbox would bolt upto these prefably auto

Have you built, installed or set up an engine with this level of output before, or are you planning to hand over large piles of cash to an expert? Anything is possible with sufficient time, skill and money. But the best approach for you will probably depend on how much of each you have available.

chassis work will be getting carried out by someone else , i am ok at welding but to be honest i would rather hand the job over to a freind who does it for a living maily for saftey reason's as trying to keep a chassis rigid with such tourqe is probaly past my capabilty's and the lad that id doing chassis work did it on a old car that produced over 700bhp and 530lbft and held together fine .

as for tunning engine's have manged to get 730 out of a 2jz stock bottom end , mapping was done by someone else

and just short of 600@fly out of 2litre sr20det again all work done by myself apart from machine shop doing there bit and the mapping again done by someone else .

i mainly no japanese engine's to be honest and now looking into v8 engine's it's a completly diffrent ball game but you have to learn so there has to be a first for everything

They only flow around 300CFM, so you would probably need four of them!

I'm running a 1JZ with a GT3076r Turbo smile

Actually my engine has succumbed at the last event, after 2 1/2 years of abuse its broken a ring or something & has started blowing by. So its time for a new one, can't complain its been running 450 plus bhp all that time on a 60k mile engine that was a completely unopened standard engine, withe the big turbo screwed on the side.
