That sounds as if you're talking about hydraulic screw connections.
If the fittings use a parallel thread which pulls two conical sealing faces together then they would be fitted dry. If it uses a tapered thread where the threads themeselves form the seal, you would wind a layer of PTFE over the thread before assembling. In both cases the fitting needs to be done up to the correct torque to seal properly. Thread lock would not be required anywhere.
